Maya’s strength, beauty and mass popularity as an actress and entertainer led to her appointment as the first Malaysian Ambassador and Power Icon for local telecommunications giant Celcom Berhad in June 2006. Celcom wanted to communicate its brand values as a telecommunications service that empowers and inspires its customers and believed Maya to be an ideal brand ambassador due to the power, beauty and versatility of Maya’s personal brand appeal. She is currently the first and only female brand ambassador for Celcom among celebrities from various fields of entertainment and sports such as Ryan Giggs, Steven Gerrard, John Terry and Wang Lee Hom.
